DIRECTIONS:

1. Download the zip file.

2. Choose which activities you would like your students to do and the directions for each are below. There are so many to choose from!!

3. Students will love building spring words with the mixed-up spring words matching activity! Students will match up the cards that have a picture and two word parts to make a word and picture match. Students will love this interactive word-building activity.

With spring-themed writing prompts, students can write a springtime story using some spring word cards and pictures to brainstorm their ideas in the first activity. Or they can write about a perfect spring day while practicing adding a clear beginning, middle, and end to their writing. With two writing activities to choose from, you will have some great choices for any K-2 classroom!

Students can also practice building and writing springtime words on spring-themed play-dough mats. Be sure to laminate these cards first or place these into page protectors so you can use them time and time again throughout March, April, and May. Students will love this hands-on, engaging word-building activity. Just add Play-Dough and some dry erase markers!

Also included is the reading comprehension activity where students will read a short spring-themed story and answer five comprehension questions about what they have just read. This activity is PERFECT for small groups, centers, or independent practice with comprehension depending on your students.

This set also includes a spring ending sound sort where students will look at a list of words and sort them into their matching ending sounds. Students will then practice writing each word below the correct end sound to make an organized list for each sound.

Lastly, I included a spring color-by-code activity where students will color in the shapes based on beginning blend spelling and sounds. For example, they will find all the shapes with words that begin with “th” and color them green. Students just love this type of activity and stay engaged while practicing reading beginning blends.
